Attention fashion lovers, there’s a new recycled fur brand to know about! A.S Fur, owned by Simone God – Adonis Stevenson’s fiancée – is definitely making fur cool again. I’m personally obsessed with the fur slippers, and people from all over America are raving about Sisi’s collection. Being constantly inspired by women in business, I wanted to have Sisi answer to my Luxury Insiders’ questionnaire. Here are her answers!
What does luxury mean to you?
The word “luxury” has a different meaning for everybody. When I think “luxury” the words “high class” and “living comfortably” comes to mind.
Life is like a fashion show and the world is your runway! The industry reflects who you are as a person. It is important to be well put together; makeup, outfit and of course confidence.
I work hard to be able to afford certain type of luxuries. I personally love cars- getting into my Rolls Royce in the morning and heading straight to the office – thats what keeps me going. Luxury keeps me going.
How would you describe your job?
My job is definitely all over the place it’s spontaneous I can be at my showroom in MTL one day then flying to NYC the next day and then perhaps even ending up in LA.
I’m always traveling because of my fashion business AS-Fur. My clients are everywhere and the demand is very big in the US. Being an entrepreneur, I know what it is to keep up with the demands. I love meeting my clients – this way I can relate to them and really understand what they want- after all I am the designer of my own brand.
The fashion industry is very fast paced and I have to be on top of my game so this means being present at fashion week in Toronto, NYC, LA and Paris and always building a clientele and presenting them my new collection.
I am so passionate about designing and I always create new looks for my clients. My goal is for them to be 200% satisfied and proud to be wearing my brand “A.S FUR”
What are the first things you do when you wake up in the morning?
First thing I do in the morning is meditate. I think meditation is very important for the soul I need my “me time”.
Second, I love to listen to motivational podcasts, especially women. I love women empowerment and hearing the success of other successful women; it makes me happy.
What do you like the most about your job?
What I like most about my job is meeting new people. I am very much an extrovert and I love being around human beings. I also love making customers very happy and the look they give me after being satisfied with my product is literally the best feeling, I can’t even begin to explain it
Who are you most inspired by and why?
I am most inspired by Maya Angelou and Oprah; I truly admire all they have done and been through to get to where they are. I grew up watching Oprah, she’s always been a mentor of mine with all that she has achieved facing so many adversities at a young age; she is a true example of resilience and to never give up on your dreams.
What would you tell people who aspire to work in your industry?
Firstly, that it isn’t easy to be an entrepreneur and that you have to be passionate otherwise it won’t be easy to succeed in the Fashion Industry. A lot of people feel like quitting when it gets hard but if you have that drive dedication and passion, nothing will stop you from succeeding.
Who influenced you in your carreer?
I want to be honest and say that a lot of people have influenced my career but one person I would like to mention is definitely my partner in business and in love, Adonis Stevenson. He’s showed me how to be more disciplined and focused; traits he’s learned all while being a professional boxer. In order to succeed you need those two traits and I admire that in him – that’s why he’s the World Champion. I learn from him every day and the advice he gives me I implement it in my business and use it as a good guidance for any obstacles I face.
What skill set is needed to do what you do?
In the fashion industry, one essential skill set is being creative, meaning having a great eye for what’s to come for the upcoming season . You definitely need a good eye to be unique in this business and know what people will like to wear.
What’s the most common misconception people have regarding your industry?
The common misconception is that it’s super easy to start in the fashion industry when it’s really not … there is a lot of competition. Some people may not believe in your brand but you can’t let that stop you, you really have to push forward and prove yourself in the industry in order to be respected.
What’s the best career advice you ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received was from my mother “Be Prepared before the Storm.” She would always remind me before all my exams in school. She said: “you have to be determined; it will direct you towards your goals. You will not attain your goals by procrastinating.” This piece of advice truly stuck with me. You know what they say, mothers always know best. This is the same piece of advice I will give to my little girl that’s on the way!
