3 English Writers to Know About

As someone once said, “Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body”. Often accompanied by a rainy day and a cup of tea, books are the perfect remedy for when you are feeling sad. With the warmer weather approaching, it would be quite refreshing to grab a book and settle down at your local park, and simply disconnect from work. Here are three authors to know about, in case you are looking for a new read!

Rupi Kaur

Rupi Kaur

Her bestselling collection of poems Milk and Honey has been many’s favourite, and for obvious reasons. The 24 year old’s recollection of her life in the form of poems has touched many, and the depiction of the atrocities as well as the blessings she has been through is captivating. Her hand-drawn illustrations add a personal touch to the novel and luckily for me, I have recently found out through her Instagram that a second book is currently being edited. Fingers crossed that it will hit the shelves soon!

Kevin Kwan

Kevin Kwan

Kevin Kwan is best known for his Crazy Rich Asians series, one that depicts the world we live in quite accurately, while giving the Western world a peek inside the lavish lives of the “crazy rich Asians”. His writing style is easy to follow and this series is hilarious, intriguing, and sensational all at once. The third book in the series is expected to be released this summer, and a film for the first book, which will be produced by Nina Jacobson, producer of the Hunger Games franchise, is currently in production. A perfect book to accompany homemade baked goods and a fresh lemonade this upcoming spring!

Mitch Albom

Mitch Albom has stunned the world with his poetic writing style, and reoccurring themes in his literary works are ones of self-discovery and personal growth. My favourite novel of his is undoubtedly The Five People You Meet in Heaven, in which a man heroically saves a young girl however is killed in the process, and sent to heaven, where he meets five people who had various impacts on him while he was alive. Albom books are ones that you will reread over and over again, and never get tired of.
