Aruba, the ultimate exotic destination

Isn’t this island dreamlike? It is an iconic exotic destination, one of the most heavenly islands in the Caribbeans. What makes Aruba so magical?

Firstly, Aruba is known for its beaches. The sand is soft, and there are many intact beaches on the island. The deep turquoise waters are magnificent, and give the area a charm that cannot be found elsewhere. The island is perfect for aquatic activities – Tuba, kayak, surfing, diving, and a lot of more. If you have the chance to tour the waters, take a look at the houses on the side of the coast. Dreamy!

When it comes to food, it never ends! The island offers a refreshing and delicious cuisine. The meat, which is mostly imported from Colombia or elsewhere in South America, is neatly prepared. The seafood is obviously abundant, as well as local fruits.

While I was there, I was charmed by the restaurant Papiamento, which serves a typical cuisine in a tropical ambiance. I still think of the cari and coco bouillabaisse as well as the cinnamon flavored mashed sweet potatoes. Papiamento is the spoken language, which is a mix of Portuguese, Creole, Dutch and English. The language reminds me a bit of Spanish, but even more charming!

Then there is the city, this wonderful haven where the big names fill up the main street, neighboring the high-end brands. I highly recommend that you rent a car if you plan on going on a little adventure. The streets are easy to drive, and the remnants of colonization dating from thousands of years ago can still be admired – and are some of the most stunning things to see. A walk in the Arikok national park and a look at the cacti and breathtaking scenery is also a must if you are going to travel to this island.

Aruba is in fact a destination that has not been flooded by tourists yet, because very little all-included hotels are available. What’s better? You can rent a little apartment and visit the island at your own rhythm.
